The UWF Field house is the home of UWF men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs. It was opened in 1971 with an original seating capacity of 4,500. Through renovations, the seating capacity was reduced to just over 1,000 in 2001 when chairback seats were installed on the north side of the arena and the bleachers on the south side were removed to allow for increase practice area.

In 1997 new scoreboards were installed at both ends of the court and year later, in 1998, a new roof was put on. In 1999 a new Tartan floor surface was laid, in 2000 a new sound system was installed and in 2009 the floor received a new paint job. In 2010 the men's and women's lockers rooms underwent complete renovation with new lockers and amenities.

New LED lighting was installed in December of 2014 and new scoreboards and a video scorer's table were installed prior to the 2017 season.

The facility also houses the athletic department's administrative units, coaches offices, an academic center for the student-athletes, teaching facilities and classrooms. There is a large lobby at the main entrance with box offices, concessions, trophy cases and restrooms. The UWF athletics weight room and one of two of the department's athletic training rooms are also located in the UWF field house.

The UWF Field House has served as host of the 2006 & 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships, along with numerous basketball and volleyball camps and tournaments.
